Targa, Czech and 811 by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH for the restaurants at Hotel Tortue, the new “place to be” in Hamburg.

Opened in June 2018, Hotel Tortue is at its best, the epitome of the cosmopolitan spirit of Hamburg, which is now a bustling city, a destination for globetrotting enthusiasts, and lovers of nightlife and fine foods.

Located in the heart of the Hanseatic city, between Stadthausbrücke, Große Bleichen and Neuer Wall, Tortue is housed in an elegant, historic six-storey building that dates back to 1888, and was formerly home to the Ministry of Urban Development. To recall its prestigious history the red brick façade remains, while the restored interior (designed by David Chipperfield Architects and Stephen Williams) fascinates due to the refinement of the rooms.

A new landmark in the city,  it is a unique blend of hospitality with an international appeal, housing numerous bars and restaurants, like the Franco-German Brasserie and the Jin Gui Pan-Asian restaurant, for which the refined seating of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna were chosen.

In the Brasserie, the famous designer Kate Hume has selected the Czech seating and 811 stools, two iconic products from the GTV collection.

Designed in 1994, Hermann Czech seating marked a turning point for modern furniture, towards intimism and the cult of memory: a modern design that seems to be from another time. Ideal continuity with the Thonet style from the end of the 19th century. The Czech chair modulates the harmony of the steam-bent beech, with its pure and abstract lines, which are enhanced by various available finishes. With a solid and resistant look, Czech is also available in a padded version, with or without armrests. The seat frame, which is curved and in one piece, is supported by an arched structure that gives it stability and robustness. In steam bent solid beech wood, designed by Josef Hoffmann, the 811 stool stands out for its current and perennial design. Available in three versions: seat and back in woven cane, upholstered seat and woven cane backrest or upholstered seat and backrest.

On the other hand, the Targa sofas by GamFratesi find an ideal location in the Jin Gui restaurant, which was designed by the architect and interior designer Joyce Wang, who is based in Hong Kong and recognised worldwide for her elegant projects in Asia, Europe and the USA. The first collection of upholstered items bearing the Targa brand offers a new idea of comfort, ideal for contract spaces, for a closer, more intimate social life, as well as for residential environments with an unconventional feel. All of the brand’s traditional elements come together to characterise the profile of the design: the curved beech wood structure supports a wide cushioned seat and upholstered back, which terminates in a frame made of woven cane. Inserted into this is an ellipsoid, the plaque or “targa” that gives the design its name.

Gebrüder Thonet Vienna once again is an ideal partner for refined contract projects, thanks to the sophisticated elegance and high quality of her offers.
